EU-Azerbaijan held an event on Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies at UFAZ

On 11 October 2024, the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan hosted an event at UFAZ in collaboration with the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER). The event focused on energy efficiency and renewable energy in the region.

Aleksandra Mihailova, International Aid and Cooperation Officer, and Eszter Suele, Head of the EU4Energy Regional Office, welcomed the guests.

Harald Proidl, an EU4Energy expert, delivered a comprehensive presentation on Energy Sharing and Energy Communities, emphasizing the importance of collaborative energy solutions in the context of the EU’s energy transition goals. He discussed the growing trend of energy sharing among communities and how such initiatives contribute to enhancing energy efficiency, sustainability, and resilience.

Zviad Gachechiladze, a prominent expert in Georgian energy policy, presented insights into Georgia's energy transition, focusing on how the country is aligning with the European Union’s commitments, regulations, and directives. His presentation highlighted the challenges and opportunities Georgia faces in integrating EU energy policies and the broader implications for the South Caucasus region.

The event concluded with a question-and-answer session, providing an excellent opportunity for stakeholders in Azerbaijan’s energy sector, including policymakers, industry experts, and students, to engage in discussions about the future of energy in the region. The event also explored how regional cooperation and alignment with EU energy regulations can foster sustainable growth and development.
