To support research activities, involve selected candidates in joint projects with French researchers, and promote an innovative research program and joint publications, UFAZ has accepted applications for joint research projects in three areas for doctoral candidates and researchers from the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU). Six researchers in the fields of chemical engineering, computer sciences, and earth sciences have conducted research abroad on various topics.

Tamerlan Shirinov, researcher in chemical engineering and a PhD student at ASOIU, was invited by Professor Christophe Serra from the University of Strasbourg to continue his doctoral research at the laboratory of the "Charles Sadron" Institute during a two-week visit to France. He investigated the addition of amide group-containing compounds to enhance the overall compatibility of polymer blends.

Allahverdi Taghiyev, researcher in earth sciences and a laboratory assistant at the Department of Oil and Gas Geology at ASOIU, Allahverdi Taghiyev, was invited by the “Institute of Environmental and Earth Sciences” (ITES) at the University of Strasbourg to conduct research together with Professors Marwan Fahs and Damien Lemarchand. During his one-week visit, Allahverdi conducted research using modern assessment methods to study the impact of climate change on water resources.

In the field of Computer Science, three ASOIU doctoral students, Anar Mammadli, Samir Aliyev, and Pavel Kosov, participated in the 28th International Conference on Knowledge-Based and Intelligent Information & Engineering Systems (KES 2024) held in Seville, Spain, in September this year under the scientific supervision of Professor Sesilia Zanni-Merk from the University of Rouen in France and professors and associate professors from ASOIU.

Arzu Aliyeva, researcher and doctoral candidate in earth sciences at ASOIU and coordinator of UFAZ's undergraduate program in geophysics, Arzu Aliyeva, was invited by the director of the “Institute of Environmental and Earth Sciences” (ITES), Renaud Toussaint, to conduct research with biogeochemistry, isotope, and experiment teams to expand her research in the field of geochemistry. During her visit to France, Arzu performed analyses on the extraction of the element Boron (B) from samples taken from the Goturdag mud volcanoes and determined the isotope concentration using the MC-ICPMS device under the supervision and participation of Damien Lemarchand.
