New Scholarship Opportunity for UFAZ Master’s Students

A new scholarship named after renowned Azerbaijani scientist Eyyub Taghiyev has been launched for UFAZ Master’s students. This prestigious scholarship is awarded to first-year students with outstanding academic performance, and will be issued during the 2nd semester of their 1st year and the 1st semester of their 2nd year. Each recipient will receive a monthly stipend of 250 AZN. For the Fall semester, 17 M2-level students will be selected to receive this honor.

Eyyub Taghiyev was a Doctor of Technical Sciences, a professor, and a laureate of the Stalin Prize. Born in Baku in 1912, he entered the Azerbaijan Industrial Institute (now the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University) in 1928. After graduating in 1932, he began working at the Lokbatan drilling office and in 1937, he was appointed head of the experimental drilling office in Surakhany. Taghiyev led a team that developed turbine drilling machines, which were later licensed by oil companies in the USA and Europe, making significant contributions to the field of oil drilling technology.
