The winners of "Techcell" hackathon has been announced

The "Techcell" hackathon, organized with the support of "Azercell Telecom" LLC and the Azerbaijan-French University (UFAZ), has concluded and the winners has been announced. The hackathon took place on April 18-19. During this period, participants were tasked with proposing solutions on 5 different topics related to information technologies, cybersecurity, and mobile network areas.

In her welcome speech, Latifa Nasibova, Acting Director of UFAZ, emphasized the importance of fostering innovation and collaboration among young talents in the tech field. Elizaveta Bydanova, Secretary General of UFAZ, highlighted the university's commitment to supporting initiatives that bridge academic knowledge with practical industry skills. Dilara Huseynova, HR Director of Azercell, spoke about the company's dedication to nurturing the next generation of IT professionals through such collaborative events. Javid Abishov, Azercell Junior Software Developer, shared his personal journey and how hackathons like Techcell provide invaluable experience for budding developers.

Then, Nahla El Zant, UFAZ Data science and Artificial Intelligence Master Program Coordinator and Asif Ibrahimov, Head of Jury from Azercell announced the winners.

Based on the decision of the jury, the "Night Ops" team, consisting of UFAZ students, was awarded 1st place, the "Sentinels" team, consisting of students from Baku Higher Oil School, was awarded 2nd place, and the "Delusion" team, consisting of students from Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, was awarded 3rd place. The teams were rewarded with cash prizes of 3500 AZN, 2500 AZN, and 1500 AZN respectively, along with special gifts from the main sponsor, Azercell.

In the competition, which saw applications from 96 teams across 15 universities, 30 teams managed to progress to the final stage. Out of these, 22 teams successfully delivered their presentations in the final. Teams, consisting of three members each, executed coding and programming tasks relevant to given topics. It is worth noting that during the selection of participants, their knowledge in areas such as cybersecurity, programming, and mobile network security was considered, alongside maintaining gender balance and the use of soft skills. On May 18-19, participants were supported by professional mentors from the Azercell company and UFAZ. At the end, the teams presented their results in front of a panel of judges.

It is noteworthy that this project, resulting from the joint efforts of Azercell and UFAZ, highlights the technical knowledge and innovative ideas of talented young students, contributing to their professional development. The "Techcell" hackathon is the third hackathon conducted within this partnership.
