Turan Mutallimov, PhD Student at University of Aberdeen, Delivered Research Seminar at UFAZ
On November 4th, Turan Mutallimov, a PhD candidate at the University of Aberdeen and a participant in Azerbaijan’s prestigious State Program, presented a compelling research seminar at the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) titled "Microbial Guardians of the Seas: Unlocking Bacteria's Power for Crude Oil Cleanup."
Mutallimov is a recipient of The State Program for Increasing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2019-2023 scholarship, supporting his studies at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, UK. His seminar captivated attendees with insights into innovative methods for utilizing microbial processes to degrade crude oil in marine environments.
An alumnus of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University specializing in Petroleum Engineering, Mutallimov centers his doctoral research on microbial biodegradation in petroleum-contaminated environments. His research focuses on refining mathematical models to improve predictions of crude oil biodegradation in coastal soils, integrating environmental factors such as moisture content, pH levels, and the presence of heavy metals.
In addition to his doctoral work, Mutallimov holds a Master's degree in Offshore Engineering from the University of Bologna, Italy, further enriching his expertise in environmental protection within the oil industry.
The seminar offered valuable insights for students and researchers interested in environmental sustainability and advanced petroleum studies.
