UFAZ and ASOIU Collaboration Yields Significant Geophysical Research Publication

Professor Clara Jodry of UFAZ, along with several UFAZ graduates, has made significant strides in the field of geophysics with their latest publication. Their article, titled “SEG Summer Field Camp: Multigeophysical Imaging of an Aquifer in the Astara Region of Azerbaijan,” was featured in the July 2024 issue of The Leading Edge Journal.

The collaborative research effort stems from last year's geophysical summer camp organized by the SEG (Society of Exploration Geophysics) ASOIU/UFAZ chapter. This event was made possible through the financial support of SEG, BP, and EiGroup, along with the invaluable backing of UFAZ/ASOIU. These institutions provided geophysical equipment at no cost and allowed their specialists to volunteer freely, greatly enhancing the learning experience for all participants.

The paper, co-authored by UFAZ alumni Dashgin Abakarov, Nigar Karimova, Zaur Bayramov, ASOIU’s teacher Murad Abdullazada, and ASOIU graduate Javid Aliyev, presents groundbreaking findings from the summer camp. Their study focuses on multigeophysical imaging techniques used to explore an aquifer in the Astara region of Azerbaijan, showcasing the practical applications of their academic pursuits and the real-world impact of their research.
