Ten students from the French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) embarked on an educational field trip to the Dashgil Mud Volcanoes to gain practical experience in geophysics. The primary objective of the fieldwork was to teach students how to operate various geophysical methods, acquire data, and perform subsequent processing and interpretation.

Under the guidance of five esteemed educators—Christian Camerlynck (Sorbonne University), Lucia Seaone (Toulouse University), Maksim Bano (Strasbourg University), Kamal Bayramov, and Clara Jodry (UFAZ)—students explored a range of techniques, including electrical resistivity, gravimetry, time-domain electromagnetic, seismic, and magnetic methods. The unique environment of the mud volcanoes provided a challenging yet enriching setting for the application of these methods, aimed at imaging fluid pathways underground and determining the efficacy of each geophysical technique in such conditions.

During the field trip, students were divided into groups and rotated between different geophysical methods. This hands-on approach ensured that each student had the opportunity to learn about and operate all the techniques under the expert supervision of their instructors. This immersive learning experience not only enhanced their theoretical knowledge but also provided valuable practical skills essential for their future careers in geophysics.

The field trip to Dashgil Mud Volcanoes represents UFAZ's commitment to providing its students with high-quality, practical education that prepares them for the challenges of the geophysical field. Through such initiatives, UFAZ continues to foster a learning environment that bridges theoretical knowledge with practical application, ensuring that its graduates are well-equipped to excel in their professional endeavors.
