UFAZ students had a geophysical fielwork at Absheron National Park
Fourth-year bachelor students specializing in Geology, Geophysics, and Georesources at UFAZ completed a dynamic geophysical field trip to the Absheron National Park. This three-day excursion provided hands-on experience with real-world geophysical exploration techniques, allowing students to explore the peninsula's unique geological features, track marine intrusions, and map sand dune deposits.
Guided by a team of expert instructors—Maksim Bano, Clara Jodry, Kamal Bayramov, and Laura Menezes da Silveira—the students applied a range of geophysical tools, including magnetic methods, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), P-wave seismic, gravimetry, and electrical resistivity tomography.
Following the fieldwork, the students spent an additional two days focused on data processing and interpretation, enhancing their programming skills and using specialized software to analyze the collected data.
In late October, they will present their findings and interpretations in an oral presentation to their instructors, marking the culmination of this intensive and enriching learning experience.
