UFAZ students recently participated in a five-day fieldwork in Shakhdag National Park

UFAZ students recently participated in a five-day fieldwork in the Girdiman River Valley and Khanagah zone, located in Shakhdag National Park. The expedition was led by UNISTRA Associate Professor Guilherme Bozetti and PhD student Zaur Bayramov.

During the fieldwork, students engaged in practical sessions focused on describing turbidite systems characteristic of deep marine environments. Under the guidance of Professor Bozetti, they analyzed rock samples based on grain size, mineralogical content, composition, and sedimentological features to determine the depositional environment.

In addition to this, PhD student Zaur Bayramov led discussions on the geodynamic evolution of the Greater Caucasus and its impact on the formation of various basins in Azerbaijan, providing a comprehensive overview of the region’s geological history. - translate to Azerbaijani as accurate as possible
