History of the project


The French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ) is a unique project, which was initiated by the Presidents of the French Republic and the Republic of Azerbaijan back in 2014.

 

 

 

 

 

Milestones of the creation of UFAZ
 
 
  • Agreements on friendship, mutual understanding and cooperation concluded between the French Republic and the Republic of Azerbaijan on December 20, 1993
  • Letter of intent in the area of university cooperation signed by both ministers on May 12, 2014, during the visit of the President of the French Republic to Azerbaijan
  • Signature of the statement on the outcomes between both ministries of Education on November 12, 2014
  • Letter of intent on the French-Azerbaijani university ("UFAZ") signed by both ministers on April 25, 2015, during the visit of the President of the French Republic to Azerbaijan
  • Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan No 1242 dated 15 May 2015 on approval of the Letter of Intent
  • Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, issued on the 9th June 2016, named “Implementation of the “French-Azerbaijani University (UFAZ)” project
  • Opening Ceremony of UFAZ University held in Baku on the 15th of September 2016, the Day of Knowledge and start of a new academic year in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Education Mikayil Jabbarov and His Excellency the French Ambassador, Aurélia Bouchez
  • Political visit of UFAZ on the 11th of January 2017 by the French State Secretary for Francophonie and Development, His Excellency Jean-Marie Le Guen together with the Minister of Education Mikayil Jabbarov in presence of the Presidents of Strasbourg University and Rennes 1 University
