UFAZ to Hold the Next Session of Research Seminar on Polymer Science

UFAZ is pleased to announce the upcoming research seminar titled ‘Contribution of Rheology in Polymer Science, with a Focus on Polymer Melts, Polymer Blends, Filled Polymers, and Suspensions,’ featuring René Muller, an invited lecturer at UFAZ. The event will take place on April 10th and will provide a deep dive into the fundamental role of rheology in polymer science.

Professor Muller, from the University of Strasbourg, is a leading expert in the field. He completed his PhD in 1983 on the design of an elongational rheometer for polymer melts, followed by his Habilitation in 1988, where he investigated molecular rheology using small-angle neutron scattering. His contributions to rheology have been widely recognized, earning him the BRELOT Award (1989) from the French Physical Society and the COUETTE Award (2005) from the French Rheology Society. In 1999, he spent a sabbatical year at the ARKEMA Research Centre in Serquigny, France, focusing on the rheological characterization of reactive polymer blends. He has also played key administrative roles, including serving as the Director of the "Polymeric Materials and Processes Laboratory" (EP 647 CNRS) from 2000 to 2004 and as a member of the French University Council (33rd section) from 2003 to 2007.

Rheology is a fundamental tool in polymer science, enabling the optimization of polymer processing, formulation, and performance.
